On Thursday, July 19, The Phoenix Restaurant and BEAM hosted HOTTER THAN JULY, an after-work jazz fundraiser with The Ed Moss Quintet, featuring Pam Ross. Proceeds benefitted the Lighthouse Youth Services Independent Living Program.
The Independent Living Program provides housing and supervision for youth who are aging out of the child welfare system. This program acccepts youth 16-19, as well as pregnant teens who are in county or state custody. They are placed in their own apartments, offering the best opportunity for them to develop survival and self-sufficiency skills in a relatively short period of time. The program provides financial support, life skills training, emotional support and guidance, case management and crisis management.
The even was a celebration of the Independent Living Program's 25th Anniversary. The night's festivities included a silent auction, door prizes, and hors d'oeuvres.
